Years ago we spent time reveling in the fabulous wines and foods of California's Napa Valley. One sunny afternoon, we were dining on a rustic wooden deck, shaded by ancient oak trees, overlooking the beautiful Napa River. In the center of the bucolic table sat a beautiful ceramic oil decanter and several little dipping dishes. Our server promptly presented us with a basket brimming full of freshly baked sour dough bread and with a flourish, poured a concoction of liquid gold and herbs into the little dishes. It was love at first dip!

After that trip, we began collecting different oil bottles and little dishes to use whenever we had bread with dipping oil.
